We met 2 other families who are with our same agency and left for our medical appointments at 9:00. We drove by van to a new building and first had Emily's visa picture taken. New families kept pouring in. We tried to count, and think there were at least 100 families there!! It is also a medical office for the local people, but they had the adoptive families on the opposite side in a different area. There were 3 stations set up. The first station was a nurse to get weighed/measured, then we went to an ENT station, and then another station where a doctor reviewed her medical file and gave her a medical exam.
We then headed back to our hotel, and I went up to the executive lounge to do some paperwork for Emily's visa with the other families from our agency and Aron. (I spelled her name wrong previously!) In the meantime, the rest of the gang ordered some lunch.
We then had prearranged to meet up with Ann, the lady who sent our packages and cakes to Emily while we were waiting. She took us shopping for some pearls and Chinese custom dresses for Emily. Ann is a little tiny thing, but owns the streets of China! We loved her! She would yell out as we would come up on a crowd, and the sea of people would part for us to go through. It was too funny. We really had to hustle to keep up with her as she would weave in and out of everyone. She took us on the subway which was very clean and air conditioned, and we had a taxi ride to the pearl district and back to our hotel.
We got back to our hotel around 5:30 and went out to McDonald's for some fast food. I know, I know.....we just needed some American food! Emily wasn't so sure about our crazy food, but ended up liking the fries and ate a few bites of hamburger and chicken.
We stopped by a 7/11 (yeah, they have those too!) and got some water and noodle bowls for our room. (Cole- they are like ramen noodles, but taste much better. Emily loves them!) We went back to our hotel and found where the pool is and the boys decided to go swimming. The boys literally jumped in and back out of the pool. It was freeeezzzzing! It's outdoors, so they need to try again in the daytime!!
By this point, we were all exhausted and all went to bed around 8:30 -9. It's now 7 am and Emily is still sleeping! She likes her sleep!! Here are some more random pictures of our day:
